Description
Up for auction is a fabulous vintage German cannister set of 12 pieces, dating from the 1920-1930 era.It has some age problems, which I have tried to show in the pictures, but is in great usable shape overall.Rarely do I find a set this complete and with as little wear and loss of the decoration and words.Salt cellars are particularly hard to find with sets.Since there are 12 pictures I hope you will be able to see the major problems.I am going to give you a general description of the problems rather than go into detail about each piece since It would take too long to describe 12 pieces individually and you would likely get tired of reading it before you were done. Please don't hesitate to email with questions about any of the pieces and I will go into detail. All of the pieces are useable, or simply display beautifully. There are chips on some handles and around rims, some cracks all of which are tight and appear to be old.Crazing is seen, under the glaze on a few of the pieces, but not on all, and tends to be light. One of the large cannisters has a darkened brownish interior, but this seems to be under the glaze. There is wear and some loss of the gold colored trim, but the gold lettering is in good condition. The salt cellar has an area inside where it looks like the salt might have been eroding the bottom interior and there is about a 25 cent size area that has lost the glaze and has a small crater forming. All of the pieces are marked on the bottom with the blue maker's mark { Staffer, I believe} and an impressed" Rhein", which is difficult to see in some light. I know all of this makes the set sound very unappealing, but believe me it all looks minor when you see the set up close.I am selling the set as is / no returns. The Buy It Now price is the investment I have in the set, but I am willing to accept a reasonable offer. Please feel free to email me with any questions before bidding, or if you would like more pictures.Thank you for viewing my item and happy bidding!
