The top has a crumb rim that surrounds the entire piece.  This is a thick heavy glass that looks a shiney jet black, but held up to a bright light, you can clearly see the rich deep purple shining through. Made by Americans, hand made here in original American glass factories.  The quality is amazing. Thick glass, made with the original moulds in the original furnaces for over one hundred years.  American glass has proven to be an investment that has almost always matured over the years.
