Ancharena, Tuula Wikander and other addressees. These letters date between 1953 and 1988, and relate future translation of his works into Finnish, existing translations in other languages and relevant publishers, meetings, replies to the letters received from admirers, permissions to reproduce his works (in full or in part) on magazines, licenses for luxury editions and other. The letter addressed to the famous dramatist Georg­es Neveux, is particularly significant in the light of Ionesco's theoretical a and literary observations contained therein: 'Bien sur, le théâtre non-engagé s'engage davantage que le théâtre engage car étant plus libre il peut arriver à être plus vrai.
