This dramatic photograph, which has never been published except here on Ebay, was taken by the Seller who was given permission by the shipyard superintendent to ideally position himself for taking this extraordinary type of the launching. Little did any of us present that balmy day realize that the illustrious SS EDMUND FITZGERALD, the Pride of the Great Lakes, would be tragically lost in the winter of 1975, with all hands, during one of the worst storms ever to ravage the Great Lakes.
