This BANK OF AMERICA Guest Register was SIGNED by Walt Disney himself on one of his final public appearances at Disneyland in 1966. The Bank of America was the sponsor for Disneyland's newest attraction, "It's a Small World." This show had been a spectacular success at the 1964 New York World's Fair, and Walt had arranged to have the attraction returned to Anaheim at the fair's conclusion. To commemorate this grand occasion in May of 1966, the Bank of America commissioned this elaborate leather-bound, gold edged GUEST REGISTER to record the signatures of the VIP's and honored guests who would be visiting the branch in the years to come. Book is a large oversized 11" x 14.5" x 2.5". Bank of America / Disneyland Branch Manager JIM HORAN was the caretaker for this magnificent treasure until his retirement several years later. Sometime after starting this new guest register, BofA employees accented the signed pages with photographs depicting the opening day events. As time passed, celebrities were also noted by the placing of a colored "star." At the "Small World" opening day dedication ceremonies, Walt Disney and Lillian Disney signed together on one of the first pages. Rarely has such a magnificent COMBINED Walt AND Lilly signature been offered for public sale. This signature perfectly symbolizes the supportive relationship that Walt Disney always found in his wife, Lillian Bounds Disney. They were the perfect team; unaffected by Hollywood lifestyles, this couple celebrated 41 years of marriage together; almost unheard of in Hollywood circles. On the opposite page, the President of the Bank of America, Mr. Louis Lundberg and his wife signed in tribute to this great day. Former BofA Executive, Rudolph Petersen has also signed, and inscribed a note recalling the bank's commitment to Walt Disney over the years. Over the next three decades, the Bank would use this magnificent treasure to record the VIP visits of hundreds of BofA executives and celebrities that would be guests of the bank at Disneyland. There are over 2,000 signatures on over 60 pages; spanning over three decades. Only half the pages are filled, but the ones which are speak volumes about the men and women from the Bank of America who maintained such a strong relationship with Walt Disney and Disneyland through the years.
