An important paper letter (closed 106 x 73 mm.) on watermarked double sheet, written by Iacopo Turi to Alfonso Gonzaga, Conte di Novellara in Reggio Emilia. The address on the back was written partly on the nizza, and lost. Dated: 1571, 19 October, Venice. An interesting letter with many details on the Battle of Lepanto (1571), that saw the victory of the Christian fleet over the Turks. The letter is written in "bastarda" Italian. In the support papers, there are traces of red sealing wax, at the centre of the sheet a watermark showing a Florentine lily in a circle. An extremely important and rare historical document.
