I find the long handles are so convenient when lifting the metal lids from the cookware. I haven't had a steam burn since using them!!! The kettle oven is very clean of all dirt and grime and is ready for use. There are so many things this kettle can be used for - canning, cooking soups stews or large meals, baking pies, preserving and so much more. Silver Seal and Guardian Ware was made in 1933 to 1956 when the Factory Burned Down so this is definitely old Cookware and one of the Greatest Every Made... Before WWII all the lids were Aluminum and after WWII started they were made to switch to glass lids...
