Career: Engineering/surveying assistant in California, 1929–1930; 1930—head of ink and paint department at Harmon-Ising Studio; 1933–1937—story editor, lyricist and director at Harmon-Ising, first animated film as director, To Spring, 1937; 1937—joined MGM's new in-house cartoon unit as director and writer: first animated film as director at MGM: Blue Monday, 1938.   BARBERA.
