Known as "Ye Olde Colonial Angler of 1770," Ken Reinard gives presentations on colonial fishing at historic locations. His book "The Colonial Angler's Manual of Fly Fishing and Flytying" has been one that many reenacters use to reproduce the equipage described. This is a very good reproduction "kit" for those interested in such sport - Angling. To assemble such a kit is time consuming as well as expensive if your paying for one's services, as was done with this one - wanting a 1st class assembly. Bamboo (3 section) rod with artificial sineu wrapped eyelets, Spar varnished - measures (assembled) 88" long. rawhide carrying case with braided brain tanned sling, painted fishing scene with wording "The Modern Angler", Spar varnished tube measures 33" X 2-1/4". period cloth cover for protecting the rod. period sheep wool leather wrap with (9) hand tied period hooks for bait as well as (8) hand tied period flyies - measures 7" X 3" folded. Goose Bay Workshop period brass bait box. Measures 7-7/8" long 3-3/4" wide, 3-3/8" deep. All you need is a period shovel for digging worms and the time to go relax and drown a few worms by your favorite stream.
