This is a very iconic piece of equestrian sculpture, and is a perfect gift for the vintage Hermes collector, horse fanatic, or lover of silver. This desk comes from the most highly sort after and revered luxury fashion house in the world. Everything that this company as produced, and continues to produce has an unerring quality, and is mainly hand worked, whether it be leather of silver. This piece harks back to the luxury and quality of both design and production of Dupre Lafon for Hermes. This letter opener is a vintage piece and dates circa early 1960's, and is fully marked 'Hermes Paris' and 'Made In France', and also has the French control mark in between (please see picture). This is a very stylish desk accessory that will really make a desk. The horses head is beautifully cast, and is expertly carved and is gold plated. Another point that makes this piece more desirable than the contemporary pieces is indeed that. It is no longer in the range of the Hermes fine jewellery collection. It has a subtle, and great shape to the blade, being slightly beveled on the front, and completely flat on the back, so its sits perfectly on the surface, and can open envelpes easily.
