I was told by a fellow collector that some of these were called 'plantation keys' that the person in charge of the plantation gates used to let carriages in and out during the victorian era! kinda cool. there are 4 really rusty ones next to them, so rusty I am unsure of thier metal  but they are really heavy too, not like pot metal so mabey???? the middle row is most exciting! !st is an original key on its original ring with original tag (all real brass) the tag reads 'stateroom # 37"...kinda coool there, too. what is the coolest to me is whats next,  an original solid brass key ring with its 2 original brass keys which are a set of olt time wetern jail keys!!! (had these appraised). next to the is an assortment of 12 solid brass keys, (oh yeah, even the big ones too-some DO have stampings or letters or numbers but I cannot read them, poor eyesight). the very top row is all pot metal or other metal skeleton keys, some stamped, some not. as you see, some of these keys are still 'blanks'--never been cut to fit any door!!!
