Ovchenilov in fact was awarded the warrant in 1870 as a providor to the Imperial court, some time before Faberge received this award. Thisd case dates from the period before the kokoshnik mark, bearing the St George and the Dragon mark of Moscow and the quality mark of 84. The marks are concealed in the top and bottom of the case. Marks were varified in Postnikova. The case measures 3 3/4 inches by 3 1/4 and is approx.7/8incxh thick. Condition: Very good. few minor chips to enamel.
