The base is not perfectly round...from front to back it measures approx. 9" and the base from side to side is approx. 7". On the front side  there is a carving of an Eagle feather, with the bust of an Eagle protruding from the center that we put there before we knew what was on the back. On the back side appears the most wonderful Miracle I have personally ever witnessed.A ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME REMINDER OF Miracles, Healing, Peace and a symbol of God's Love and Hope...and maybe the answer to our Grandparent's prayers, as GOD shares this miracle of the Baby Jesus and Mary and Joseph. To me it is happening exactly the same way God's first manger message arrived. When baby Jesus was born, it was quiet, unassuming, and most people didn't know it even existed. Then, as now, the miracle of His Love for mankind is re-affirmed. This manger scene was sent by Him once again to offer us Hope and Peace and the reassurance that God is still there. He still loves us and wants us to know that he is still there...so he sends us undeniable proof...first by sending His Son to a quiet manger scene...now He is sending it again, in a quiet manger scene.     The image is in a knot in the wood, where we had removed a limb, measuring approx 3  1/2"  X  2 1/2".  It is the complete manger scene, appearing naturally. A true gift from God. It clearly shows The Virgin Mary, the Blessed Baby Jesus in dark swaddling clothes laying in the manger, Joseph, small animals, the North star and hay strewn about the floor, plus a shadowy background that resembles the barn.  (A detailed description of where it all appears in the log is outlined below.)     It gives the appearance of the inside corner of the small barn where the Virgin Mother was granted space for her and Joseph to spend the night. It appears to be the purist time. The time right after the baby was born, when no one else was aware of the marvelous gift that God had just bestowed on the Earth. In my opinion, it is an exact replica of the original manger scene even including the small details like the North Star, hay on the floor, and the small gathering of barn animals.      WHAT'S on the log & Where you'll find it:   Looking at the ebay photo with the ruler shown horizontally .... this is what you'll see:      It is a complete manger scene. Joseph is kneeling on the left in the image.(above the # 2")  Mary is kneeling on right (above # 2  5/8").  Both are in long white robes. Joseph's hood is down so you can see his shoulder length brown hair. Mary's hood is up on her head. Mary is in the process of laying Baby Jesus into his manger (above # 3 ").  Her right (white color) arm is reaching across the Baby's body (Dark color swaddling clothes) and her left hand is steadying the top of the manger so it wont tip over. Baby Jesus appears in dark colored swaddling clothes and you can clearly see his head with Mary's right arm over his tummy and his blankets are draped out and over the bottom edge of the manger. The North star is to the right of Mary's face. A baby lamb and other small animals are gathered around Joseph's feet/bended knees. In direct sunlight, below the manger, there appears to be a silhouette of a larger 4 legged animal, a donkey or cow perhaps, but it is not clear.. Hay is all over the floor.   Here's how the image was found ....       Our buddy, Mr. Bear (a Blue Merle Pomeranian) usually goes with us, as we are searching through the woods in our backyard, to find fallen logs to carve for our hobby.  We found a big old log close to  home. It was small enough to carry but it had a limb sticking out the back of it. Photo of the area the log was found in, can be seen on the attached photos.      Mr. Bear sat nearby, as he always does, and watched as we began to use the chainsaw to remove the old limb and carve an art piece that was to be an eagle feather with the protrusion of an Eagle head in the center.      Not paying any attention to the back of the carving where the old limb was, we took our time and carved out the art piece on the front of the wood. When we were satisfied with the front, we lightly sanded the entire log so that we could apply a sealant to the wood. We were working inside a building with only an overhead light. Still not paying any attention to the back of the wood, we applied a single coating of polyurethane, which is a sealant that preserves the wood. Then we sat the log outside on our picnic table to dry in the sunshine.      While we sat on the porch, drinking a second cup of coffee, and waiting for it to dry, we noticed that Mr. Bear had gotten up on the picnic table and just kept sitting and looking at the back of this carving. Now, Mr. Bear wasn't allowed up on the table, so we went over to see what he was looking at, and to also remind him that he was not allowed up on the table top.      When he didn't jump down right away, and just kept looking at the back of this carving.... we decided to look a little closer at what he found so interesting.        We were totally amazed at what we saw. Here in the knot of the limb that had just been cut off, was the most perfect image of Jesus, Mary and Joseph in a perfectly complete manger scene.      In the left portion of the image was Joseph. He is dressed in a long white robe, with no hood over his head, so his hair is clearly visible. He is kneeling down next to Mary (who is dressed in a hooded white robe) with his hands folded in prayer fashion and they were tucked gently between his knees. We could clearly see his brown hair and the outline of his face. He was looking directly at Mary who was putting Baby Jesus into the manger. Her right hand is adjusting the swaddling clothes near the tummy of  Baby Jesus as her left hand steadies the top of the manger so it doesn't tip, as she lays the baby down. The swaddling clothes of Jesus are dark colored and perfectly clear, hanging a tiny bit over the bottom edge of the manger. The blankets in the manger are white.       The image of the North star is towards the top right (near Mary's face) with a few other stars shining brightly down on the scene. In different lighting situations, many images of little animals can be seen around the base of the scene, at Joseph's feet and at Mary's feet.  There seems to be a Donkey or a cow near the base of the manger with smaller animals to the left, but the donkey isn't perfectly clear. You can see the 4 legs & the bulk of the animals big body,.. but the head is hazy to us.   Of course, our eyes have worked a lifetime and are now in deserved retirement, so maybe you can see this clearer than we do. We only want to say exactly what is factual. So we are not sure about the donkey. It could be a cow or a deer too. It does not appear to be a camel to us.     When the carving is in natural outdoor light, you can clearly see Joseph's eyebrow, nose and chin and his full head of curly shoulder length brown hair.  Mary's face shows 2 eyes, a nose and a mouth with a distinct shadow under her chin as she bends over to place the Baby in His bed. The white blanket of the manger is draped over all the sides, but you can still clearly see the 2 right hand legs of the manger angling out in front.       Our friends looked at it and wondered if we retouched it or did something to it to make it so perfect....but nope we did NOT.!!!! We did not alter it or enhance it in any way at all!!!! All we did was put a sealant on it before we even knew it was there. Since we were working inside of a building, and of course not  paying any attention to the place where the limb was cut off, we never even saw the manger scene there ...until our buddy Mr. Bear "found" it and refused to move until we saw it too.   These are untouched  photos!!!  The manger scene we found in the knot on the back of the wood, is totally natural !!!    We did not change anything. We did not draw on it. We did not carve it. We didn't even move the piece of wood to take the photos. When we found the image of  Mary, Jesus, Joseph and the manger scene, we went immediately to get the camera and took the photos. We have since moved the log into a building to protect it and keep it safe, but we still to this day have not altered it or changed it in any way. The way we found it, is how it still is. We have more photos available....or if you need to see a specific part...email and we will take a new photo to send.   *****************************************************************   The log we're selling today can only be described as definitely a  ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME miracle. There is only just this one.   (THIS is not a cheese puff or a potato chip that was made  BY A PERSON  in some factory somewhere.)  It is definitely directly from God. He grew the tree. His creature led us to it. He guided our hands as we unknowingly cut His log in just the right spot at just the right angle so that His Miracle would appear for all to see.    When I saw it, I instantly got goose bumps! It made me a true believer that Miracles still do happen...even today.... and ....Like the little baby in the manger, nobody knows about this miracle yet... and the world definitely needs to know what God has sent down to us. Once you see it in person there is no doubt as to what you are looking at. We believe that this is the miracle that our Grandparents prayed for and this is why we are going to sell it...    A while back, Grampa got so sick that he lost his job. Then a year or so later, Grama got sick as well, and had to quit her job too. Somebody stole what savings they had and they ended up losing their house which had been in our family for four generations. They lost their car. They moved into their hunting camp but it needed a new roof, a new foundation, and running water. They borrowed enough to have some friends put on a new roof, but it still leaks in the winter. They had a wood stove for heat but it became too much for them,.. to find, cut & stack fire wood,... so they took out a loan to get a water well &  a gas furnace installed.They have not been able to fix the foundation or keep the roof from leaking in the winter. Their old truck got bad, so they had to get a newer one. These two big bills are hard for them to pay. They had 2 little brown Pomeranians for over fourteen years, but both died within 6 months of one another. That broke poor Grama's heart in two. She and Grampa were so sad. They prayed hard for a miracle.    A few days later...their son and daughter-in-law surprised them with a little black & white (Blue Merle) pomeranian puppy that they named Mr. Bear... and Mr. Bear is the one who found the manger scene in this log. We thought we would put this log up for auction to see if we could get enough money to either pay off one or two of their big bills or fix the house they are in or build them a new one with a cellar in it so they have a place to go if there is a bad storm. But I know Grama, she will want to help out her 2 children. Maybe God's miracle will let her help her 2 kids and fix/or replace the old house. We will use the Hope that God has sent to us and Pray  for the best. The "initial asking price" is the total of their  two big bills.
