Description
Make sure to BOOKMARK OUR EBAY STORE and check out OUR NEWLY LISTED ITEMS   Here is a true grail cover for JLA or Jim Starlin fans: This is the original cover art for Justice League of America #185 (1st series), published by DC Comics in December of 1980. This is the legendary "DARKSEID RISING" cover, which features the HUGE Darkseid taking on the combined heroes from the JLA, JSA, and New Gods, with a whole bunch of additional characters thrown in for good measure! This classic cover is by the legendary Jim Starlin, who is well-known as both a brilliant writer and artist. He is perhaps best-known for his classic cosmic Captain Marvel / Warlock / Thanos storylines, and then his later Silver Surfer / Infinity Gauntlet stories. But this is certainly one of the artistic triumphs of his entire career, and this is one of the most well-remembered cover images that he ever did. The cover is on DC art board that measures approximately 11 1/4" by 17 1/2". What's also very cool is that some DC covers from this period did not have logos or captions added to the original art, so you can see the art completely unobscured. So please note that the logos are not missing (you can see there are no stains). The cover is in excellent condition with no problems and no whiteout. It is signed in the lower left border. JLA #185 was the conclusion of the classic storyline where the Justice League teamed-up with the Justice Society of America, and also with the New Gods. This was one of the truly great JLA storylines of all-time, and featured the resurrection of Darkseid, a villain created by Jack Kirby, who is one of the most fearsome characters in the entire DC Universe. The JLA / JSA / New Gods must unite to stop Darkseid from moving Apokolips into the Earth-2 Universe (which would destroy that entire world). This classic story reaches its apex in this incredible cover, masterfully designed by the legendary Starlin. The huge image of Darkseid is perfect, showing the scale and power of this classic villain, as he towers over the heroes, who include Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Firestorm, Power Girl, Dr. Fate, Mister Miracle, Orion, and The Huntress. Just a truly stunning cover, and one of the most memorable JLA images ever. While the terms "unique" and "special" get thrown around an awful lot when you see original artwork being sold, here is an amazing opportunity to own a true grail-type piece, and something which in all likelihood, you're probably not going to see again. Don't miss out on a rare chance to get an amazing piece that would look fantastic prominently displayed, and would be a key piece in any collection.   Payment to be made within 7 days of auction close.
