Description
SELLING: In this sale is the almost impossible to find Black Butler from Post war Japan. Wicker handle.  Its  so  rare  we couldn't  find  it in our books  so  we a so  we are going on the advice of others. Biscuit size= 9" ceramic; handle upright adds 1-2". This is the second most rare cookie jar we've touched ( first was UND's Susan at $6600) so its almost impossible to compare side by side to other examples  which  we usually  like to do. This jar appears to not been repainted, repaired, restored. It has no cracks or chips.  The obvious   flaw  is  the  extensive  age stain/crazing/spider webbing  on  the base  and  thru out  the interior of the base.  The dark spider web stains  are  so  widespread that  we  are realistic   and  do  not  expect  any collector  to  pay top dollar  for  a less than  mint  jar. If  it  had the Made in Japan label,  it fell off years ago  We will not sell this jar until several or many additional photos have been supplied to prospective buyer. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ . CONDITION: NO CRACKS or chips; Wicker is excellent. Study the photo but dont expect to see deficiencies. Nothing this old is ever perfect but the crazing-varicose veins-spider webbing  requires additional  photos. Japanese jars  are  small by todays standards.  This  one  is almost exactly  9" tall to the top of his bald head. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CLICK ON THE RED DOOR ICON: To browse without pressure to see approximately 350 really nice, rare and unusual cookie jars in all price ranges. Click & watch every jar you find attractive! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ OUR GUARANTEE: The internet is full of cookie jars of unclear origins and ancestry. We warrant this to be a  Black Butler from a no pet, non smoking home. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ WHY WE ARE SELLING OUR COLLECTION: Our collection got as high as 900 jars. We've gradually narrowed it down to 400 jars which we liked the best, enjoyed, best condition, rarest, most interesting. etc. Frankly, our steps seem to grow longer and our retirement nest egg seems to grow smaller. We are adding new jars as we unpack them so bookmark us as a favorite seller and stop back often. Since  we liquidating our collection, we  will take  returns  for merchandize credit  at  a rate  of  115%  of  your  winning bid,  excluded S&H. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PRICING: Quality and rarity are critical.   In  this  case,  insurance is the big factor, not weight.  It  will be adjusted downward  to match actual selling  price. We try our best to describe post-production defects. We want our "babies" to go to good homes for the next 20 or 30 years so they can be passed on as enjoyable heirlooms from the mid 20th Century. Special authentic and safe harbor will be expected and will be offered at buyer's additional expense. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING: We've selected an average shipping price as we are equidistant from all coasts. We will add insurance unless  you specifically  decline insurance; eBay will figure that option into your total. We've tried to be good stewards of these jars and try extra hard to pack them carefully. We don't believe in endangering a $1000 jar to save 50c of bubble wrap. We suggest a coffee filter with each jar. We found that to be a wonderful way to avoid rim chips when you display your jar. And it can be a whopper 2x the norm. We try to ship next day so do not delay ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BEST OFFERS: We will be happy to accept a reasonable offer Click N Watch every jar you like without the pressure to buy like an auction. If you are buying for gift season, we try to ship quickly. Unlike an auction, you don't have to wait beside your computer guessing if you might win something you like. Serious collectors welcomed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PHOTOS-QUESTIONS: If you would like to see different views or have a question, please ask. We;ll need your private email to send a scan. We'd rather talk before the sale than resolve a problem once your jar arrives. Together we can have a "no surprize" transaction.    Discount  for NOT using PaypalPowered by eBay Turbo Lister
