Description
VERY VERY Special Japanese Sword Please also check out my other auctions for more swords and fittings! I will combine shipping on all items. I hate having to part with this sword in particular as it has always been one of my most favoruite swords. It is definately one of a kind sword and special for many reasons:You are looking at what I suppose is probably the best cane sword ever made. When Samurai Swords became illegal in Japan during the Meiji periode one could only wear a sword in disguise. Now 99% of the blades made to be caried or actually caried as canes are poor quality if not to say junk. This one however must have been a custom order sword for a very high ranking Samurai. Have you ever seen Ayasugi Hada on a cane sword? The answer is no ... but here is the one example that stands out of the rule:This sword is in full Japanese polish by master polisher Takeo. It is a flawless masterpiece signed Miyamoto Kanenori. Kanenori is the most famous sword smith of Meiji periode along with Gassan Sadakazu. Both were friends and it was Gassan Sadakazu who taught Kanenori how to do Ayasugi Hada - the famous trademark of the Gassan school. Google for Miyamoto Kanenori and you will find plenty of information on him. He is a national treasure smith. The blade - or in this case the pictures of it - simply speak for itself. I think you can't ask for any better quality in a sword. This one has it all and much more. Who ever has had made this must have been pretty wealthy and interested in top notch stuff only. The blade, is mounted in a good quality Japanese Shirasaya - there is no cane mount with it, also note that blades MOUNTED in canes are illegal to own in many places so you don't want to get this mounted in a cane nor be as crazy as to take it for a walk! This sword being mounted in a Shirasaya is however fully legal to own. (But again don't take it on a walk with you).Habak is solid silver. of course also custom made for this sword.
