Description
You're bidding here on one full box of SIX of these outstanding, fully-forged carbon steel slicing/carving knives by Henckels. We've been selling them one at a time for $99.99 and by request have begun to offer them now in their original wholesale boxes of 6, as fresh from the factory as the day they were made, over 30 years ago. They'll make excellent gifts, a great inheritance for your heirs or something with which you can turn a handsome profit! Below is the description of an individual knife from our ebay store:From one of the finest cutlery companies in the world comes this superb vintage chef's slicing/carving knife from J.A. Henckels of Solingen, Germany. This beautiful knife has never been used, and is found here in factory-fresh condition, as beautiful as the day it left the factory in 1975, found here with original plastic protective scabbar on blade and in its original box, which held a half-dozen of them. When we recently acquired the dead stock of an old cutlery store, this was among them, and if you've been collecting vintage Henckels cutlery, your mouth is probably salivating just about now--and rightly so. Its blade may shine like stainless steel, but it is carbon steel, hand-forged with integral blade/bolster/tang construction, real wooden handles triple-riveted onto its full tang. It's blade is made of beautiful carbon steel, and will hold a razor's edge, with relatively easy honing. Handles are warm to the touch and easy on the eyes, unlike the ubiquitous black plastic that dominates the market today.. If you've never used a carbon steel knife before, you're in for a revelation in performance. Experienced chefs know that only a true carbon steel blade can consistently attain the razor-sharp edge that makes cooking a true pleasure (you must wipe the knife after every use to avoid stains and rusting, but will be richly rewarded with superior performance!). This knife is perfectly balanced and will make you wonder how you got along without a top quality vintage chef knife for so long. Here's your chance to pick up one of the best investments any chef or serious cook can make. Measures 13" with a 8.25" blade--but it's razor edge and balance make it excellent for any job in your kitchen, large or small. It's ready to serve a useful lifetime of carving and slicing and generally making fast work of whatever you put in its way. You might not be aware that Henckels knives began to use recycled steel stock in 1987, but this knife was made prior to that from virgin steel. The fit and finish of its blade and handle are what you should expect from one of Germany's finest cutlery makers and it really is much more beautiful than today's composite-handled equivalent. Whether you are a professional or amateur chef, you'll instantly come to love this magnificent vintage knife as one of your very favorites. Also will make an exceptionally surprising gift for the discriminating chef on your list. A nice find here on ebay or anywhere else, especially in this condition. A WORD ABOUT MAINTENANCE: Never use a dishwasher. Wash the knife by hand and wipe clean immediately thereafter. Wipe the knife clean when using it on wet or acidic foods. It WILL rust if not maintained properly. I apply a very thin coat of non-toxic mineral oil to blade and wooden handles periodically, to seal them from ambient moisture in the atmosphere (olive or corn oil will suffice).Be sure to see the other new/vintage Henckels knives we're selling now on ebay! In order to streamline the process, we will provide a flat, upfront shipping rate in our auctions whenever possible for all U.S. buyers. Keep in mind that our prices for shipping in USA always INCLUDE insurance unless otherwise stated (sorry, no exceptions to this.) If your email comes back to us 3 times, we will report the problem to ebay via a non-paying bidder alert. Terms of Auction Listing created with eLister 2.7.4 for Macintosh from Black Magik Software.
