The knife has been listed in many publications over the years and is described as follows:   5 ¼” SWELL CENTER HUNTING JACK PATTERN - Sabre clip blade glazed finish. Nickel silver cap and bolster. Brass lining. Stag handle. Guimpe shield. Lanyard hole in cap.   I had the knife personally inspected, cleaned and polished in 1996 by the late Mel Brewster (a well known knife expert and author).The “Big Book of Pocket Knives” identification and value guide 2ND edition 2005, authored by Ron Stewart and Roy Ritchie, lists a value of $2,200.00 – These authors also publish “The Standard Knife Collectors Guide” now in the 5th edition or so.   Overall I think this knife is extremely nice for it’s vintage. There is no damage to the bone handle. The blade looks nice as well but is not mint. A portion of blade near root shows some wear. Minor scuffing on blade not polished completely out per Mel; see picture. I'm not a knife collector so cannot rate condition as an expert would.   This is probably the highest value Antique Winchester knife today!! The high published values over the years probably indicate this piece is a rare one!! Place a Bid!
