There are a lot of fake and altered powder horns.  These are not. The artistic work on these horns was done in the period, not added at a later time.  Two of these horns I believe have significant historical value.This listing is for a carved out and scrimshaw decorated powder horn.  It measures 10 1/2 inches or 27 cm long.  It has a wooden cap at the fat end with an iron loop.  The wood is held to the horn by a series of brass toped nails.  The horn is carved away at the powder end in two bands.  The horn is scrimshawed decorated with vines and leaves.  It is also signed.  The signature reads "J. _DN_" I am not sure of the first and last letter here, please see photos.  It also reads "1817" in a pointed box and "TEXAS".  There is no partial museum tag on this horn as there was on the other two horns.  But I believe this also to be from the same institution.  Again the horn is guaranteed to be authentic.This powder The condition of the horn is good with age appropriate wear etc.  There is no reserve.
