RARE ANTIQUE 3/4" BONE BAKELITE POKER BACKGAMMON DICE Start Price USD 49.99 Current Price USD 49.99 Time Left - Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Sunday, November 30, 2008 End Time Sunday, December 07, 2008 Location West Los Angeles See more about 'RARE ANTIQUE 3/4" BONE BAKELITE POKER BACKGAMMON DICE' Description ANTIQUE 3/4" DICE Here is very unusual set of dice.  I found these and some others in an old box with some other stuff.  As you can see in the photos, they were handmade as none of the pips and carved tops and sides are exactly the same.  The size is 3/4" or slightly over or slightly under depending on which one you measure and where.  As you can see in the photos they kind of look like bone and at the same time, they have that swirling, mottled look of catalin bakelite.  But if you test them with scrubbing bubbles, some dirt will come off but it doesn't produce yellow on the cloth like bakelite.  But my feeling is they're some kind of bone.  If someone out there knows what they could be made of - let me know and I'll post it.  Until then - I'll let you be the judge - based on the photos. But anyway, they're the wildest dice I've ever seen.  They feel great in the palm of your hand and they have a very nice roll to them no matter what the surface.  They'd make a great addition to your collection or a wonderful gift this Holiday Season.
