Description
Like the matching birds-beak paring knife we're also selling now from this superb line of knives, this outstanding bread/serrated slicing knife comes from one of the finest cutlery companies Solingen, Germany has ever known. It's found here in dead mint condition in its original cardboard scabbard and was made by Anton Wingen in their outstanding "Othello" line of cutlery. With sharp teeth that grab food without ripping, it's one of every chef's most trusted and heavily relied upon knives for slicing everything from bread and bagels to beef roast. Better known in this country for their straight razors and for their outstanding Black Forest-style stag-handled cutlery, Othello made knives of every description and their chef's cutlery is quite highly-prized in Europe. It was made with blade triple-riveted in brass over a full tang with gorgeously grained rosewood burl handles that are warm in the hand and pleasing to the eye. It comes with a 7.5" blade (it's 12-3/8" overall)--beautifully balanced in your hand, with an incredibly comfortable wooden handle with ergonomically correct grip. Without doubt, this is one of the finest knives you'll ever use--lightweight, balanced and as beautiful to look at as it is to use. Best of all, this knife predates the industry's widespread conversion to using recycled steel stock and was forged from virgin steel instead. Whether you are a professional or amateur chef, you'll instantly recognize the value of such a knife, but if not, you need use it only once to understand perfectly. IMPORTANT!!!
