Start Price USD 9.99 Current Price USD 20.00 Time Left - Bid Count 6 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Tuesday, November 25, 2008 End Time Tuesday, December 02, 2008 Location Upstate New York See more about 'RARE VINTAGE ELGIN AMERICAN ARMY MILITARY WIFE COMPACT' Description Here's a nice old antique, ca. 1940s - 1950s Elgin American compact.   I've seen a lot of compacts by Elgin, but never one with an Army insignia on it.  This is a compact which would have been used by the wife or significant other, of an enlisted member of the U.S. Army.  It's scalloped around the outside, and has a definite "heart" design to it--depicting that her guy while in the service would stay close to her heart.  The heart is brushed gold tone, and the outer rim is polished.  It is mirrored on the top, and on the bottom is a little compartment which contains red, red,--DID I SAY RED--rouge!  It's definitely not lipstick, because there were no lip brushes back in the day (nor does it feel like lipstick).  This is a rare example of an old military wife's compact, quite unique and collectible.
